Dr Stanislav Shmelev is an award winning British photographer (Honorary Colour Master, 2011; Premier Selection of Le Plus Grand Concours Photo du Monde, PHOTO Magazine, France, 2010; 3rd prize in Environmental Photography, British Council,

2005), painter, environmentalist and art historian. Educated in art history and drawing and holding a PhD in Ecological Economics (2003), Stanislav combines his interest in fine

art and sustainability and expresses his admiration for the natural world through oil paintings and photographs, printed on aluminium plates. Passionate about green economy, nature protection and sensitive ecosystems, Stanislav creates evocative environmental landscapes inspired by his travels in Brazil, Malaysia, the UK, France and the countries of the Mediterranean. Formerly a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, Senior Researcher at the Oxford University, and Visiting Professor at Universities of Geneva, Paris and Versailles, Stanislav devotes all his energy to the promotion of sustainability ideas both through the language of art and of science.

Stanislav has been a Member of the St Ives Arts Club, was represented by DEBUT Contemporary Gallery in Notting Hill, London, had several solo shows in Oxford, exhibited with PHILLIPS (London), STITCH ‘Art for the Earth’ auction (London), Swiss Cottage Gallery (London), O3 Gallery (Oxford), Studio 44AD (Bath), St Ives Arts Club (St Ives) and FOTONOVIEMBRE de Tenerife International Photography Festival (Spain) and is selling his work through SAATCHI ART. His images were used on book covers and published in magazines, his solo shows “Colour and Light at Play” of May-August 2011 at Summertown Wine Café, Oxford and “Environmental Improvisations” at Said Business School of Oxford University were positively reviewed by Oxford Times. Stanislav is an author of a book

‘Ecological Economics: Sustainability in Practice’, Springer, 2012. Most recently Stanislav's image 'Complex Systems. Dorset' was published in a beautiful National Geographic album 'Stunning Photographs' www.amazon.co.uk/National-Geographic-Stunning-Photographs... .
