God of Joy (GOJ). Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

"God of Joy" is in reference to my DJ name in college, which in turn is a reference to the Tony Randall movie "The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao" - It's shortened to 'Goj' as it makes for a more practical nickname, as i currently live in the bible belt.

I do Art in my free time.

Everything posted here is either Adobe Photoshop or Bryce unless otherwise noted (that includes the drawings)

While I studied Art in college (BFA in "visual technologies") I'm rusty, hoping flickr will get me up to speed again...not only in practicing my technique, but also finding out the software that is "the thing" to be using in today's marketplace.

In a perfect world, right now I would be writing, sculpting and CREATING full time. I've got all kinds of creative impulses. In the current world, I used to manage data and processes for an online custom framed art operation. And now am going to school for a Bachlors of Science in "Game Art & Design"

(yay! my account went "live" around 6/12/07")

Very open to the idea of artistic collaboration, and sharing tips/techniques.

Inspired by the art of Moebius, J.K. Potter, Mike Mignola, Frank Miller, Ian Miller, Dave McKean, Clive Barker, Kinuko Craft, Timothy Bradstreet, Brom, Steve Diet Goedde, Simon Bisley, Sorayama, Frank Cho, Brian Froud, Brom, Allen Williams, etc.

Flickr's nudity/censor policy has made several artists change many of images to "moderate" and "restricted" in order to reappear in the public searches. So in order to see them you have to reset your 'default' parameters. You won't be able to see them otherwise. If you are responsible personality who would like to see all that is available on flickr, please do the following.

This is how to do it:

1) on the left top menu, under the drop down menu of "You" there's a "Your account" option.

2) choose that then go to "Privacy and Permissions"

3) on the bottom of the page, under "content filter" press "edit"

4) choose "safe search off" and choose both non-photographic images" and "screenshot"

5) save your changes

That way you are in control and will be receiving all of flickr content and not just what they think you should be getting.

For bonus points: Copy and paste these instructions and send them to all the people on flickr that you know.

I can't think of anyone else I'd rather continue on my journey with, creatively, personally, and spiritually. He is truly a gift to the arts through photography, drawing, and writing. He is both edgy and soft, light and dark, always seeking the new and digesting and reinventing the old. Despite his more sinister projections, he has not a malevolent bone in his body. He is merely working through life one image, one word, one glance at a time, much like we all are. I am grateful to know him.

Goj is a tormented genius and a fierce friend, not to mention a helluva boss. His art is tortured and heartfelt, showcasing his light and dark side simultaneously, in a way that few can do or have done.
