I'm a photographer, writer, actor, model, and director. I am a starving artist of all trades. I am currently living in Japan and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

As to why I'm a photographer, here's a few things I've had to say on the subject.

"I prefer photographing people because they will never be the same person they are at the moment when the shutter clicks ever again. I like to deal in emotions and stories. My photos are plays, the background a stage, the model an actor on it. People give me the ability to take ideas in my head and force them into reality, instead of waiting around for reality to catch up with my ideas."

"The world does not know about you. Nature does not love you. You do not have a special bond with it. The sunrise doesn't care about you. The stars don't listen to you. The ocean doesn't sing for you. The trees don't care if you're shaded or not. They were here before you were born and they'll be here when you're gone. They may be beautiful, but they are not aware of you. What they do, these things are not for you. They are just there. It is cold, impersonal, unfeeling spectacle and it was going on before anyone was here to see it, and it'll be going on after we're all dust again.

And that's why I don't like photographing it."

"If reality was really worth paying attention to we'd all find so much so interesting in our own lives that we'd never bother recording it. We'd never look back. We'd just experience the next thing. Photography to me at least is creation. It's a world I'm not a part of that is still uniquely and completely my own design, and always interesting."

Jack Scoresby is my favourite part of Flickr. Not only does he create amazing images that continually challenge both himself and the viewer, but Jack also understands the value of community here on Flickr. He calls his Flickr friends on the phone, he posts his inspirations and flatters his admirers with honest praise. While watching his stream over the last long while, I've watched him improve his photography skills and also confront many obstacles on his way to becoming an artist that can't be ignored. And also an artist that is rather addictive. :) His 365 project is an inspiration and I keep meaning to start it myself. I know that when I do start, my very first image will be dedicated to the very sexy, very talented, very manly, very honest, very fucking wonderful, Jack Scoresby.

Jack is able to capture a narrative element in his photographs, a story in a single frame. His pictures tell an otherworldly, epic story.

Jack has a wonderful artistic eye and great technical ability with the camera. I am currently really enjoying his 365 day photo uploads. He continually comes up with new, interesting ideas which is really hard even for the most technical of photographers. Can't wait to see more from him!!
