I like to travel. The majority of my photos were taken while travelling, whether it's a short trip down to Oregon, a cruise to Alaska or an extended vacation to France. I'm also very interested in history. Most of my trips include stops at historic places: an old fort, historic building, Medieval town in Europe.

Roadside Architecture is something else that captures my imagination. These are things from the recent past, that are fast disappearing from today's society. An old full service gas station from the 1930's; a wonderful neon sign for the El Rancho Motel; a faded "Ghost Sign" on a brick wall, telling you to drink Coca Cola.

Another interest of mine is Public Transportation. I especially like to ride on subways, light rails and streetcars. Whenever we're in a big city, it's the only way to go. I've been guilty of looking at a subway map, finding the longest line, and riding it to the end of the line...just for the fun of it. City busses and Ferries are also fun ways to get around. And of course, getting in my car and hitting the open road is great too.

I also enjoy scanning various things that I own and sharing them on Flickr. Most of them are history and travel related, also. Among the scanned items on my Photostream are Vintage Postcards, Old AAA Strip Maps, National Geographic Magazine Ads from the 30's and 40's, a 1928 Guidebook to Los Angeles County. Plus many other things that I find interesting.

Thank you for visiting my Flickr site, and I hope you enjoy what you find.

John is quite the traveler and luckily for us also quite a photographer. Looking through his photos is the next best thing to hopping in the car and seeing places yourself. He's also an incredibly friendly person and it's people like him that make Flickr that much better. Thanks for all the great photos John!
