LIAM KELLY IS A PHOTOGRAPHER, FILMMAKER AND VISUAL STORY TELLER, CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE SOUTH COAST OF THE UNITED KINGDOM.
On leaving University in 1996, and embarking on a decade long career in graphic design, animation and web development, he took a two year sabbatical travelling, working and conservation volunteering through the Pacific and Asia. Liam returned to the UK, inspired and brimming with a renewed purpose and drive, to take a leap into a new direction with his first love, photography and film.
But where should he start? A degree in Ecology would lead him towards the natural world. A further degree in Human Geography and Politics fuels his passion for investigation, exposé and the documentary. Itchy feet and a need for new experiences drives him towards further travel and adventure. Ultimately Liam’s love of design, patterns, and seeing the strange and beautiful in the world around us, is his greatest inspiration.
WHAT KIT DOES LIAM USE
Equipment doesn’t matter, it’s the image, the composition, the light, and the technique, that all matter in taking a photograph, or shooting a story. That’s all you ever hear. If it didn’t matter, then we’d all be still using box brownies and super 8mm. It’s almost obligatory these days to talk about what kit a photographer or camera operator uses. DSLR, Mirrorless, Full Frame, Cinema, Professional Video, Lenses, Gimbals, Tripods, Drones, etc. So here goes. Nikon, Sony, Sigma, GoPro, DJI, Zhiyun, 3 Legged Thing, Benro, Syrup, Zoom, Joby, LowePro & HPRC. For a full breakdown of specifics then take a look bellow.

Your interpretations of Perth in photography made me assume you were local, you knew the places that locals would - going to miss your westralian work; a great stream is found here.
Turningtide Photography has one amazing photostream full of gorgeous scenery and the little things in life we often pass without noticing. I feel lucky having stumbled upon his photos in the labyrinth of Flickr.
