Black Scoter

Strangely enough, this bird was on the beach when we first saw it. Not sure why it was there - but it then rapidly did a wing crawl and went back to the water. Don't think it was injured.. but it may have been - seemed to scoter away quickly after that.

 

Neat looking bird! Don't think I've seen a male black scoter before this trip. Actually, I hadn't seen a female either - another trip lifer!
