Forster's Tern (Sterna forsteri)

The Forster's Tern (Sterna forsteri) is a medium sized tern that breeds in the mid-western US and Canada. It winters along the US Pacific, Atlantic, Gulf Coasts, and the Caribbean.

This image was taken in March 2012 therefore the bird is in winter or non-breeding plumage. The distinct eye patch in winter plumage differentiates this bird from other similar terns such as the Common Tern.
