One of the birds I developed some affinity with (means they are pretty placid birds, and common-ish). At sunset at Mitchell Falls they all seemed to come out from their hiding spots and perch on the top of a rock and watch the sun go down. This was one of a pair that placidly sat in the shadows watching the sun until I interrupted, at which point they watched me and the opposite side of the valley instead, still bathed in brilliant sunlight.
This crop is trying to satisfy my curiosity as to what are these 'quills'? Still not sure.
