Toronto - Wintergarden Theater
Toronto Wintergarden Theater
This was built in the first decade of the twentieth century. It literally sits ON TOP of the the Elgin Theater (above the dome in the previous pic) It played vaudeville until 1928 when it was boarded up and remained vacant until 1988 when they reopened it only to find one solitary lamp still burning 60 years later (gas lamps).
The theater is covered in real plants and vines that hang off the ceiling and there are about 200 small chinese lanterns that illuminate the foliage...crazy huh?
There also was a woman who was stabbed in the women's washroom which sits right behind the booth in the mezzanine...she died before she could make it down the elevator and she still wanders the theater today in the lavender dress she was wearing that fateful night [cue Vincent Price]
