Mr Stonechat spying for caterpillars
Mr Stonechat's hunting technique was to sit on a high point - a patch of gorse or a stick - and survey his surroundings for insects. On spying a grubbly delicacy, he quickly swooped down and collected his prize before returning to his perch. I assume he generally ate his findings on picking them up, but he did bring a few larger caterpillars back to his hunting perch while I was watching.
