U. S. Army, Spirit of Jasper No. 400, Parlour Car, Indiana, Jasper (4,305)

Spirit of Jasper car No. 400, named the Parlour Car, is a former Department of Defense car that was bought as surplus property to be used on an excursion train out of Jasper, Indiana. The car, along with two others, was refurbished in 2008-09 by local individuals and businesses for use on the three car Spirit of Jasper excursion train. The car was built in the early 1950s as a hospital ward car. Before being sold, the car was stored at the US Navy Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana. Before becoming surplus property, the car most likely was in service to the U. S. Army
