Ash-throated Flycatcher (8978)

In Los Alamos County, flycatchers are generally summer birds. Ash-throated Flycatchers, with their golden brown and yellow colors, show up in mid-spring, and can be found all through the summer, leaving by early September. Their soft burry calls are readily recognizable, and it is not unusual to find them perched at the top of a bush or tree. They breed here in open scrubland, and will readily find cavities in man-made stuctures for locating their nests.
