Green Heron

First summer bird with the lovely green lores. At one point North American species was lumped with the Striated Heron, which also occurs in India. This almost full-frame shot is my best so-far of this species and it was fun to get it while on a family hike. Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto. March 27, 2011.
