Panama: Fasciated Antshrike
From the first walk after arriving in Panama. It was almost sunset, completely overcast and had started to drizzle. There was hardly any light left. I heard an antshrike but couldn't find it until I realized that it was right by the side of the trail, grappling with something in its bill. It was too dark to see what it was in the viewfinder, but the sequence of pictures showed that it was a scorpion! Initially the bird had it by one of the claws but then managed to maneuver it to get it by the tail, which seems like a wise thing to do with a scorpion!
From what I can glean, this may be a Bark Scorpion but appreciate the correct id.
