Blackie mussels his way in
Black Scotter Drake - Barnegat Inlet Jetty, Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, New Jersey
There are countless millions of mussels growing on the rocks of the Barnegat Inlet jetties,
and the various Scoters, Longtails, eiders, loons, and many other bivalve connoisseurs are all hip to that,
and have been long-time visitors to the inlet every winter to feast on the plentiful harvest!
See the map (at full mag in satellite view) for the exact location (+/- 50 feet) of this capture.
Pretty amazing that it looks as good as it does (captured at ISO 1600 / +1 EV with a 50% crop),
and it's that low noise of the 50D sensor that's the reason I still have and continue to use my 50D.
