Peregrine Falcon in Flight - Falco peregrinus

This is a Male Peregrine Falcon (assuming male) that is a resident in Downtown Corpus Christi (Exact location not to be disclosed).

Peregrine Falcons are said to be the fastest moving animal in the world at this given time. During a dive they reach and average of 180+ miles per hour and in field testing have been tracked at 242 MPH in a feeding dive from 12,000 ft altitude. The record dive for a PeFa is recorded to be 272 MPH. This is over 200 MPH faster than the speed of a car on the interstate. Truly a top predator, and one of my favorite birds, certainly my favorite bird of prey.
