Crested Kingfisher, Megaceryle lugubris guttulatus,

This superb Kingfisher is a bird of the fast flowing rocky rivers, this race can be found from the Eastern Himalayas through northern Myanamar and Thailand to China. Other races can be found in mainland Japan and some of the offshore islands. This was one of a pair photographed on the Kameng River in the Nameri National Park, Assam. They are quite wary and did not allow me to approach within 100m. They would then fly off a considerable distance.
