Nepal - 'Earthquake Walk'

In 2011, UNDP Administrator Helen Clark visited downtown Kathmandu for an 'eathquake walk' - a tour by the Government and other partners on disaster preparedness, which was intended to demonstrate the vulnerabilities of residential and other buildings.

 

Following the recent earthquake that tragically struck the country, Helen Clark has written a blog in which she remembers the visit, highlighting the need for Nepal and other vulnerable countries to build a safer and more resilient future.

 

'Tragically it is too late for the victims of Saturday’s major earthquake, but it is never too late to resolve to reduce the risk of future disasters and act accordingly', she writes. You can read the full blog post here:
