The Freckled Ducks had gone foraging when I took this shot but it gives an idea of why the birds bunch up together. Real eastate is at a premium. This is the tip of the island and the whole thing is covered in birds.
Not only that there is a large group to the left of where I took this from and an even larger crowd of many species strung out along the right bank. Then there's all the flotillas out in the water. It's crowded! And the Cattle Egrets will start nesting in the next few months and arrive in thousands!
