Abandoned and Overgrown Crematory

The old Jefferson Davis Hospital was completed in 1924. The hospital was built atop the 1840 city cemetery, which contains the bodies of many Confederate veterans. The graves were never moved. Burials were made outside and under the Jefferson Davis Hospital; today there is no trace that any cemetery existed. The hospital and burial area is well-rumored to be haunted; and is known throughout the area as one of Houston’s Most Haunted Places. Jefferson Davis Hospital had been abandoned until recently. It is currently high-end housing lofts.

This is the old abandoned crematory behind the old Jefferson Davis Hospital. It is now being taken over by vines and shrubs.
