Spring is here
I walked Shannon out to her car yesterday and then, instead of going back into the house and packing as I intended to, I sat down in the grass and just inhaled spring for a while. The scent of spring at home is so intense compared to what it is where I live for school. In Lawrence, I smell spring overpowered by asphalt and cars and people; at home, it's pure and unadulterated. In the half an hour I spent here, I think I heard 2 cars and 200 birds.
And this is why I will always be a country girl at heart. That solitude is something I need every now and then to keep myself sane.
