for my 2.5 year old nephew, whose bedroom door at his new (old) house doesn't stay open on its own. my sister-in-law and i agreed that if she sewed me a throw pillow (she's great at those and i don't like making them), i'd sew a doorstop for his room. she's a big fan of owls, so i knew that would be the shape. then i saw a blog link to the haley by hand etsy shop and loved the shape she uses for her softies, so i modeled my owl after that. i added wings and a loop to hang on the doorknob when not in use, and put a gusset in the bottom to help him sit up properly. all details are machine-appliqued.
my nephew loves it as a softie, so i'm not sure how much doorstopping it'll be doing…but i tried!
the owl is filled with dry garbonzo beans and fiberfill.
