back to my favorite colors - green and blue! i made this tote for a good out-of-town friend who started teaching me to knit when she was in town a few weeks ago (see my…um…scarf thingie that i messed up and can't finish - time for lesson #2!). anyway, she was carrying her knitting around in a paper bag with a plastic sandwich bag for extra needles and markers. that simply would not do!
i boxed the corners to give the tote a 3" base. i also added a fabric-covered cardboard insert for stability - e, don't wash that part! :)
i wouldn't recommend this ikea fabric for big bows…kind of hard to maneuver and pretty heavy (had to tack it on), but it looks cute and i do like the tote's sturdiness.
fabric: ikea stripes, light pink kona cotton lining, joel dewberry modern meadow for the zippered bag lined with an ikea sheet
inspiration: www.sayyestohoboken.com/2010/04/diy-big-bow-pillow.html, and because i used the stripes it subconsciously ended up a bit like one of these: freshlypicked.bigcartel.com/product/stripe-bow-bag-navy
