The Fyris River

This narrow stream runs through Uppsala. It is named after Fýrisvellir, a nearby plain that existed during medieval times. If you know your Swedish history, you may recall the Battle of Fýrisvellir between Eric the Victorious and Styrbjörn the Strong in the 980s. I guess I won't have to tell you who won the battle...

 

I got a photo from this location over a year earlier. I think it shows how much I've improved as a photographer since then. See: The Light Chains I.
