The range and population of this bird are very small and severely fragmented. It is very close to qualifying as Critically Endangered with only a few hundred individuals remaining, but two subpopulations consist of more than 50 individuals (including the area where this photo was taken). It is therefore listed as Endangered.
Taken in a cocoa plantation, RPPN Recanto das Antas, Sooretama, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
