South Luangwa, Zambia
This was the second highest creature on my wish list for our recent trip and I was delighted to have several opportunities to see a pair. Seeing them was one thing, getting a usable photo quite another as they favour very tall, densely-foliaged trees.
It is one of the world's largest owls (and, in my opinion, the most beautiful) and quite uncommon in Zambia. It is a lovely pale ginger in colour with wonderful eyes, and is a night hunter.
