The Lasso ceremony

We had a pretty traditional Methodist ceremony, performed by my "adopted" grandfather, Rev. Phil Peace (seen on the left). Although neither of us are particularly religious we are both fans of tradition. We wanted to say the words our parents had said to each other, and their parents before them. Notable exceptions to tradition: I was "presented" by my parents, no one is obeying anyone, all prayers were done in Spanish and English, our reading was by Pablo Neruda, and Phil welcomed the Tigers and Zebras as if they were guests. This is a picture of a traditional Lasso ceremony, common in Latin American Catholic wedding. We choose to include it out of respect for Charles mother who is from Honduras and Catholic.
