Blackbird - Turdus merula

Another berry tree, another Thrush guarding its food in the cold snap.

 

This time a female Blackbird that was not allowing any other bird close.

 

Females are brown rather than black with the UK resident birds numbers boosted by winter visitors from Scandinavia
