No Notch Step 4

Step 4: Once you have an arm's length spun on the hook, wind the yarn down around the whorl -- leaving it on the hook -- and start winding it around the shaft as shown in step 5.

 

I find it is best to bring the yarn down to the base of the hook as shown in the picture. It's up to you to decide where to go from there -- bring it down directly behind the hook, to one side or the other, based on where you want to place your "notch", which is what this length of fiber becomes!
