Phantom Ranch - early morning mustering the mules - Grand Canyon

The wranglers muster and load the mules behind the Phantom Ranch canteen. Almost everything going into and out of Phantom Ranch goes in and out by mule. One of only two post offices in the US with Mule delivery. This is RM 88 Right

We rafted in late May but joked that is was more like Mayuary - January in May. Cold and wet. In late May there are two choices in weather - Cold & Wet or Hot & Sunny. Nothing in between.

I went on a non-motorized Raft trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon with Arizona Raft Adventures from May 16 through May 31. Four Oar rafts, a Dory, and a paddle raft.

14 days and 225 miles from put in at Lee's Ferry to take out at Diamond Creek on the Hualapai Reservation. This was the adventure of a lifetime. I loved it.

ps: They are changing the restrooms at the Canteen at Phantom Ranch. We used to have running water. They are moving us to composting outhouses and using the old restrooms for storage for the Canteen. And I didn't see anywhere to wash hands but construction is still in progress. So take more hand sanitizer. Must be too many hikers leaving too much defecation matter for the septic tanks.
