Devil's Corkscrew - Bright Angel Trail - Grand Canyon

Even though I've hiked this many times, I seem to always stop and take a photo of Devil's Corkscrew - both going down and coming up. It is an impressive sight and the icon for this trail.

"I have never really lost my sense of wonder" Harvey wrote to a friend in 1954, "but one time coming up to the top of the Bright Angel Trail and was asked by a tourist whether the trip to the bottom was worth the effort, I was tempted to reply, "It was better the first 25 times."" My Guardian Angel by Robert Service

"When looking back I dimly see

The trails my feet have trod,

Some hand divine, it seems to me,

Has pulled the strings with God;

Some angel form has lifeward leaned

When hope for me was past;

Some love sublime has intervened

To save me at the last."

I'll take a Guardian Angel over a Giardia devil any day.
