"This monument was erected by the runholders of the Mackenzie County and those who also appreciate the value of the collie dog, without the help of which the grazing of this mountain country would be impossible. Unveiled on March 7th 1968 by Sir Arthur Espie Porritt [...] Governor General of New Zealand. Beannachdan air na cu caorach".
From our 4-day weekend away for my 28th birthday where we stayed in Mt Cook Village.
Taken on the Hooker Valley Track, an 8.67km return hike from Mount Cook Road as Hooker Valley Road was closed and covered in snow. The hike took us 7 hours 20 minutes - slow going with snow shoes!
Play with an interactive 360-degree panorama of the Hooker Valley.
