Colorful Guardian

A Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) made for a colorful guardian, perched on a mammoth tree at Royal National Park. At this time, I was still not used to seeing parrots just popping into view. You'd think that after all the flocks of lorikeets passed over Nikolas & Raja's garden, I'd have been prepared for them to pop up anywhere. I think I finally got used to the idea of parrots being everywhere by the third day in Queensland. Perhaps the cooler weather in New South Wales made it more difficult to become accustomed to what seems such a tropical species. (Photographed at Royal National Park, New South Wales, Australia)
