Buy these books! - 57/365
I got my dSLR in May of 2007 and have been taking photos with it non-stop since. I decided at some point late in 2007 that I would make a book of my favorite photos from each year so I could actually have something physical to look at instead of just a computer monitor. In an effort to see how I progress, or my styles change, I also decided to keep the photos in the same order I took them. It's actually pretty neat to see where I have come from and where I am now. Having books has also been a great way to show people what I have been doing with myself.
2007 - Saturation - My friend Mike Beaumont brought up the fact that it's pretty funny I used a B&W photo for the cover since I named the book "Saturation". I don't know what I was thinking. I used a dust jacket for the first one but won't ever use one for any of my other books.
2008 - Light - I found the Strobist blog/site late in 2007 and have been hooked on lighting ever since. 2008 was the year I learned how to use light so I thought it was an appropriate title. It probably looks pretty sad that I have my own face on the cover but in all honesty that photo from that self portrait session got me hooked. That one photo meant a lot to me so I made it the cover shot.
I finally got through my 2009 photos the other day and now come the process of laying out the book. I use Blurb of course and have only good things to say about them. I hope to have my 2009 book in my hands within a month. As you all probably know, it's hard to find enough time to do other things besides take and post a picture.
