Red-legged Thrush

Andros Blue Holes National Park / Andros Island, The Bahamas

The Red-legged Thrush is a common and widespread resident in the northern Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and Dominica Republic. It is also fairly common in the Cayman Islands. The islands just mentioned comprise its entire range which makes it a Caribbean endemic.

I first saw the Red-legged Thrush in Puerto Rico where, in my opinion, it is more common than in The Bahamas as this individual you see above was the only one that I observed during the week that I was in The Bahamas. There is variation within the species between those found in Puerto Rico and those found in The Bahamas.
