"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life" - Henry David Thoreau
After seeing this shot, I immediately thought of the novel Walden in which American naturalist HDT lures in readers to the amazing refreshment of simple living in natural conditions. I'd love for life to be simple right now, but I'm confident that I'll make it through the current complexities with all the loving support of my family and friends that has been pouring in.
Back in High School when I couldn't grow a beard, I painted one on my face so that I felt more grizzled and spent the weekend barefoot and working in my mother's garden. It was part of a class project to "live simply" in response to Walden and my teacher, upon reading of my adventures, didn't believe that I had taken things to such extremes. I brought in a picture and she loved it. Now I've got a real beard and a balcony "garden" which I can't wait to expand someday... the garden, not the beard.
In a week I'll be camping in Wisconsin and I hope to have some wonderful refreshing moments. Happy Friday everyone!
