Enheduanna Sumer Mesopotamia - Biblical Illustrations by Balage Balogh
The first poet in the world known by name, the High Priestess and princess Enheduanna lived in the Sumerian city of Ur in the 23rd century BC. She addressed her poetry and hymns to Inanna, Mesopotamian goddess par excellence, of which 42 survive. Her father Sargon created the first empire in Mesopotamia.
