On March 19, 1895 the cargo ship "Elisabeth" exploded. On board ca. 1400 boxes with dynamite. Unfortunately six other ships also had been involved in the disaster. Amongst others the ship "De Hoop" (German: Hoffnung, Englisch: The hope) sank. On the photo you see the relict. It can be seen in the River Rhein during low water caused of little rain in the past weeks. Usually the wooden artifacts cannot be seen.
