Phyciodes tharos

Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos)


These very small butterflies (under an inch) were out in large numbers. They seemed to prefer the clover blooming in the mowed trails and would fly up in small clouds as I walked. They generally rested on plants with wings spread. Learn more about them at:
