Orange phone booth, Central African Republic, March 2009

Central African Republic's potential is being recognised by foreign investors. The Orange mobile phone network reached the town of Paoua in northwest CAR in early 2009.

In just a matter of weeks the high street saw a proliferation of these small phone shacks, selling handsets, SIM cards and air-time - evidence of the rapid expanse of the telecoms industry.
