looking across kealakekua bay

In case you haven't already heard, there was a huge earthquake in Hawaii earlier today. One of the spots that was severely affected was the cliff in Kealakekua Bay near where I stayed during my visit there.


What you see above is the cliff face a month ago. Here's a picture of the dust cloud from the landslide, and here's a picture of what the cliff looks like now. Absolute craziness.


According to CNN and Fox news, it sounds like there are no fatalities. It's mostly property and structural damage around the islands. People are calling in to news stations, sending emails, writing blog entries, and posting photos, so I'm guessing that, other than being shaken up and maybe stranded for a bit, people are doing ok.


Best wishes go out to everyone on the islands. Hope things get back to normal soon!
