Santa Fe Horse Express

This car would travel on the Santa Fe's passenger trains, transporting racehorses around the system. The Santa Anita racetrack is not far from Fairplex, and is located on what was Santa Fe's Second District (Pasadena Sub). This car would deliver racehorses to that track.

I'm not sure what happened to this car. When I first got it in 1985, it was whitelined and looked to be in original Santa Fe paint. When I saw it later, it looked liked it had been painted in a fresh Pullman Green color. Yesterday it looked pretty ratty, comparatively.
