Logitech Z-5500 Speakers Unboxing
On February 18th, 2008, my old speakers - a set of Logitech Z-680s - started making loud popping noises, for no apparent reason. And by popping? I mean "I thought someone was trying to shoot my head off". And let me tell you, that sound in 5.1 surround? NOT FUN.

So, I had to bite the bullet, watch my wallet cry, and buy new speakers. I didn't want to waste the money on a cheap set, to get better later, and rather just drop the cash all at once. I also had to make due with the little speakers on my monitor, which made everything sound like a tin can, and that was a small corner of hell.

A week and a bit later, the new speakers arrived. Aside from their final death throes, I quite enjoyed my Logitech speakers, so got their latest versions of what I had. They are MUCH improved, on all counts; they look better, the sound quality is better, they look and sound more professional than the 680s, and they provided more wire, and a better quality, as far as I can tell.

As much as I loved the Z-680s, the Z-5500s are the next step in their high end evolution, and I'm already quite pleased with them.

My wallet still weeps.
