Ultra-pod tripod in use with a Nikon D40X

I bought the Ultra-pod over a month ago, and used it only a couple of times. In full tripod mode a bit of fidling is required to stop it falling over with the weight of the Nikon but the Velcro strap can be used to help anchor it. Today was the first time I've tried strapping the Ultra Pod to anything, and it worked fine.

It's a bit disconcerting to watch the Nikon waving in the breeze, hanging out over a creek, but it held fast, and the camera didn't slip.

With its light weight it is much better than my previous mini tripod, it would be a bit better if the legs were longer giving a more stable base for a DSLR, for which you need the Ultra-pod II - which I didn't know about when I bought this one. For a compact the standard Ultra-pod is excellent.
