24/10/2012 ~ Coming Home
Well what can I say - I spent all day indoors and busy save for 10 minutes between hotel and office at one end of the day and then 10 minutes between office and metro at the other end of the day ... and both of those were rushed affairs :(.
I stepped onto the plane not having taken a photo and fully aware that I would not do so once I finally got home (many hours from now) so I decided a window shot was the way to go .. cheesy but a novel shot for me.
I struggled with reflections until I had the brainwave to use the panels from my portable diffuser which I attached by stretching the elasticated opening over my lens after turning it inside out to put the white on the outside and the black on the inside. This setup I could then press against the window, effectively cutting out all reflections and all that I had to do was check that none of the diffuser panels had sneaked in front of the lens. The results improved immensely the second that I adopted this approach.
I deliberately timed the shot with the flash of the red light as I felt that the colouring makes the shot more interesting.
