26/10/2012 ~ Castle Keep
I've been trying really hard to think about composition and I'm aware of the rule of thirds and the concepts of lead-in lines and not having blockers running across the image so when I saw this door I thought I would try to both incorporate and challenge some of those concepts.
The door knob is on the thirds and the handrail provides a lead-in line to draw the eye but then I split the image straight down the middle with the edge of the door frame and wait ... ... what about that lead-in line - yes it leads the eye - but to where?
I like this a lot but I'd love to hear what others think - did your eye go crazy trying to work out where to settle? Is the door knob dominant and interesting enough to carry all the conflicting (anti-)techniques?
PS: Get me getting all rebellious in my old age ;).
