On Thursday, December 2nd 2010, a forest fire ignited and rapidly grew to massive proportions in the forests of Mt. Carmel, claiming fatalities, razing entire villages, and forcing many out of their homes.

Throughout the following days, the IDF took control of aerial attempts to fight the fires, in coordination with foreign aid delegations sent from various countries abroad.
