Golani Brigade Cross-Country Race
The 26th infantry Golani Brigade race took off on Sunday (June 11) in a ceremony at the start line in Mount Hermon, and will continue throughout the country ending this coming Thursday (June 16) in a formal ceremony at the Ink Flag plaza in Eilat - thus crossing the country from north to south.

In addition, high school students from around the country, representatives of various youth groups, representatives of municipalities hosting the marathon, representatives of the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel's Soldiers (AWIS) and representatives from company "adopt a soldier" which adopted the Golani battalions will join the event.

The Golani marathon is an inseparable part of the legacy and ethics of the brigade during which its history is passed on, from the battles of the War of Independence to recent battles, in every front in Israel. The goal of the race is to encourage teenagers to join combat units, strengthen the connection between the IDF and the Israeli community, stress the importance of health and exercise and cultivate the ethic of the love of Israel.

Preparation for the race took place in collaboration with the Israel Police Traffic Department. At the main junctures where it was necessary to block traffic for the safety of the participants, traffic will be blocked for short periods of time according to necessity, with minimal damage in routine traffic and its continual flow as much as possible.
