Istanbul 2016: Little Hagia Sophia
Little Hagia Sophia was founded as the Church of the Saints Sergius and Bacchus in 536, and may have served as a practice model for the much larger Hagia Sophia. (Its plan also inspired San Vitale in Ravenna.) It was, of course, converted to a mosque after the Ottoman Conquest, and remains in use as one today.
