exploring a hospital! sort of
That's still in use...while I wait for them to finish up my case...after spending 8 hours today getting treatment for a stupid accident that happened yesterday in Detroit. (If you guessed it involved a fall in an abandoned building, you're right. At least it was on the first floor stairwell, not anywhere on the 13th or 14th floors.) When I was far from home, And by myself. And my cell phone wasn't working (actually, I could have restarted it but I honestly thought it wasn't working). And I had a day of walking around planned. Which I did, because I could still walk...at first. And I had a concert to go to. Which I stood during, because unlike the band's show in Chicago, I could take photos, and did. Then around midnight I realized I could barely stand up, took a cab to Greyhound, had to be carried onto the bus, had to have the bus driver back in Chicago help with a cab, and then...the 8 hours at Stroger, feeling gross and sleep-deprived from the previous day.
Anyhoo, it's not broken, just badly sprained. This is the first injury I've ever had like this--in fact, I haven't had to go to the hospital since an accident when I was a baby. I'd already cut my big Detroit trip short because of finances, but had a lot I was looking forward to in Chicagoland this weekend. Given that it took 10 minutes for me to crawl up to my 3rd-floor walkup this afternoon, I don't have high hopes for much of that happening, unless anyone feels like driving somewhere!
